Seabiscuit Bakery and Mukilteo Coffee Roasterie Announce Collaboration
Exciting changes are on the horizon for Mukilteo Coffee Roasters and Seabiscuit Bakery & Co.! Beth and Gary Smith are collaborating with Jenn and Sieb Jurriaans to create a one-of-a-kind coffee roasterie, bakery and cafe destination at the space currently known as Mukilteo Coffee Roasters’ Cafe in the Woods. The new cafe will be full of your favorite sweet and savory Seabiscuit Bakery goodies, as well as other breakfast and lunch offerings – many of which were debuted during the Salt & Sea Provisions Pop-up at Saltwater Fish House and Oyster Bar in Langley this past year. Beth and Gary have done a wonderful job creating a memorable dining destination and community gathering space at Mukilteo Coffee Cafe in the Woods and although there will be changes with Seabiscuit Bakery & Co. moving in, their collaborative goal is to provide existing and new customers a similar, yet enhanced, experience!
Mukilteo Coffee Roasters isn’t going anywhere–in fact, they are expanding their wholesale operations and are thrilled to be operating side by side with Seabiscuit Bakery & Co. at Porter Airfield. On one side, Mukilteo Coffee will continue to operate their world class roasterie – shipping Whidbey roasted beans locally, nationally and internationally, with the addition of a newly renovated walk-up retail shop. On the other side will be the Seabiscuit Bakery, a cafe and multi-use event space – think french inspired fresh breads and pastries, breakfast and lunch, wine events and more! This partnership presents an opportunity for both of these Whidbey-based, family-run businesses to grow by employing more talented, local staff and serving their community the best way they know how: through delicious food, drink and good times.
Throughout the rest of 2021, Seabiscuit Bakery & Co. will begin to transition into the current Cafe in the Woods. First expanding their wholesale bakery and then eventually continuing what they started at the Salt & Sea Provisions Pop-up, but with additional offerings and a new experience–nestled into the woods right outside of downtown Langley. With their Roasterie and Cafe, Beth and Gary Smith have created an amazing asset to our community – and now, from one Whidbey institution and family business to another, they are graciously passing the torch to Jenn and Sieb with Seabiscuit Bakery & Co. Together they are creating a strong partnership and one-of-a-kind culinary destination at Porter Airfield.
Mukilteo Coffee Roasters and Seabiscuit & Co. could not be more grateful to their team members and loyal customers who have – quite literally – gotten them through this past year. They look forward to this new chapter of the bakery, cafe and roasterie and cannot wait to share it with their community. Stay tuned on social media for updates about this one-of-a-kind-culinary destination, coming in 2021.
